When Barack Obama and Michelle Robinson tied the knot on Oct. 3, 1992, the 31-year-old future president was as a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, and had worked on a voter registration drive throughout that election year. Michelle was an up and coming attorney who had worked in Chicago city government as assistant to the Mayor. The wedding took place exactly one month before Bill Clinton won the 1992 presidential election, defeating President George H.W. Bush and Ross Perot.
