Gabrielle Union to star in BET pilot, re-named ‘Being Mary Jane’

CREDIT: AP In February, I reported via Deadline.com that BET had created a new dramedy pilot called “Single Black Female,” shot in Atlanta . Maybe that sounded too too derivative of the 1992 thriller “Single White Female” so they’ve changed it to “Being Mary Jane” starring actress Gabrielle Union . Is that a better title? We’ll see. For one, the show has nothing to do with marijuana. (”Mary Jane” being one of many euphemisms for weed.) Rather, it’s about Mary Jane (played by Union), an Anderson Cooper -type… >>
