Maroon 5’s ‘Payphone’ trumps Gotye’s 11-week run at top
It took a song about a now obsolete technological mainstay of the 20th century to push Gotye off the top of Atlanta radio. Maroon 5’s “Payphone” was the most played song in town this past week, bumping “Somebody That I Used To Know” from the top spot after 11 weeks, the longest stretch for a song in at least two years. “Payphone” made it to the top thanks to maximum airplay on the four pop stations in town: Wild (104), Q100 (71), Star (66) and B98.5 (41).
