Best pizza

Photo: Phil Skinner, [email protected] Yes, it’s that time again. Let’s talk about pizza. It’s been almost two-and-a-half years since we last asked about pizza in Atlanta, so we definitely need to update this one. It’s said that even when it’s bad, it’s still pretty good. But why eat bad pizza when there’s so much good stuff out there? First, we need to know where to find that amazing pizza. That’s where you come in. Whether it’s thin and crispy or thick and chewy, we want to hear about your favorite place for a slice (or a… >>

Friday Riffs: Your favorite Jackson 5 song could net you a DVD

Come on, admit it, you spent more than a few Saturday mornings back in the day watching “The Jackson 5ive” cartoon series. Maybe you caught it in its original run in the early ‘70s, or maybe you’re from the Michael Jackson-as-solo-star era and watched the show when it was rebroadcast in 1984-85 to capitalize on Michael’s popularity. Well, the entire series, including 46 remastered songs (and yes, “ABC,” “I’ll Be There” and “The Love You Save” are among them) has just been released on Blu-Ray and DVD, and thanks to our friends at Morris + King… >>

So Beyonce didn’t sing live — so what?

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll. OK, everyone, relax. So Beyonce sang to a track of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Monday’s inauguration. Shrug. Whitney Houston once did the same at the Super Bowl and her rendition of the same song remains one of its most iconic versions. And let’s not forget, at the 2009 inauguration, famed celloist Yo-Yo Ma and other musicians pre-recorded their performances two days earlier and played along during the ceremony. It’s January in D.C. It’s cold. Strings break. Instruments crack… >>

Star sightings: Mary J. Blige, Susan Lucci, Evander Holyfield spotted in Atlanta

AP photo Happy feels-like-Monday. Here are a few star sightings to star this short week! Mary J was in the house! Mary J. Blige and her husband Kendu Isaacs cheered on the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night. (Did anyone spot her in the Dome on Sunday?) Tamar Braxton and husband Vincent Herbert , spinoff stars of the WE channel’s “Braxton Family Values,” also were at Philips for the Hawks game on Saturday. A number of tipsters filled us in on Ludacris’ weekend activities. He was spotted at Whiskey Blue in the Buckhead W, Chops Lobster Bar and the… >>

Photo: Jolie Loren Photography Ed Roland has played stadiums and arenas. Theaters and clubs. He’s also played on the tiny stage at Eddie’s Attic for many a Christmas concert. But when Roland unobtrusively stepped onto the close quarters of the Attic’s legendary stage last Tuesday, he was bookended not by his longtime Collective Soul bandmates, but by guitarists Christopher Alan Yates and Tomi Martin and bassist Brian Bisky, with drummer Mike Rizzi a few inches behind him… >>

George Jones sets Atlanta date for final tour

Ed Sheeran: An unlikely heartthrob brimming with talent

Photos: Christie Goodwin Midway through Ed Sheeran’s set, an amazing thing happened. With a lopsided smile and a charming accent, he somehow managed to get the 10,000-plus people crammed into The Arena at Gwinnett Center to silence their chatter, their random squealing of his name and even, for a few minutes, disregard their smartphones. Then, at this show last month – the Star 94 Jingle Jam concert which Sheeran headlined – something even more incredible happened. Sheeran wasn’t silencing the crowd to sing his hit ballad, “The A Team,” or even to do “Little Things,” the swoony tune he… >>
