‘Glee’ star sings show tunes Fresh from collecting the Ally for Equality Award at Atlanta’s HRC Dinner on May 4, “Glee” star Matthew Morrison is set to release an album of show tunes June 4. Titled “Where it All Began,” the album features classics such as “Singin’ In the Rain,” “Luck Be a Lady” and “Send in the Clowns.” You can also hear the album on television as Morrison’s PBS special, “Matthew Morrison: Where It All Began – Live From the Bushnell,” debuts June 1. Get ‘Wicked’ with the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus — and the new women’s chorus, too

The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus presents “No Rest for the Wicked” this weekend, but tickets are sold out for all but the Saturday matinee performance of the show that features songs from the hit musical and the debut of the AGMC Women’s Chorus Project. “No Rest for Wicked” focuses on the music of composer Stephen Schwartz. The third most successful Broadway musical ever, “Wicked” is based on Gregory Maguire’s novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” and tells the story behind the “Wizard of Oz” character. >>

‘Brer Rabbit’ returns with gay director at helm

When openly gay actor Spencer G. Stephens was approached about directing “Brer Rabbit & Friends” at the Center for Puppetry Arts, he wasn’t sure how to react. Yet it didn’t take him long to say an enthusiastic “yes” to the project. As part of the acting ensemble of the last two versions of the show at the company, in 2005 and in 2008, Stephens feels his experience was one reason he was asked to helm the current take, even though he had never directed before. “I know the structure, how the show should be done,” he says. >>

Out on Film announces 2013 festival dates, ‘Divine’ first flick

Organizers of the Out on Film festival today announced the 2013 event would take place Oct. 3-10.
