Out on Film announces 2013 festival dates, ‘Divine’ first flick

Organizers of the Out on Film festival today announced the 2013 event would take place Oct. 3-10. Also announced was the festival’s first secured film, the documentary biopic “I Am Divine.” From the film’s official description: I AM DIVINE is the story of Divine, aka Harris Glenn Milstead, from his humble beginnings as an overweight, teased Baltimore youth to internationally recognized drag superstar through his collaboration with filmmaker John Waters. Pedal power for gay marriage

A lesbian couple pops up among the characters of the Alliance Theatre’s new “Bike America,” making its world premiere this week as part of the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition. In Mike Lew’s play, the character of Penny (Jessica DiGiovanni) is a student traveling across the country, trying to do some self-discovery and find out who she is during a cross-country cancer fundraiser.
